£20,000 for Chile Earthquake
The President of The Freemasons' Grand Charity, Grahame Elliott, has approved an emergency grant of £20,000 to the Red Cross following a large earthquake in Chile. The earthquake struck at 03.35 hours local time on 27 February 2010, measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale. It is reported to be the worst earthquake to hit the country in 25 years, and has been followed by aftershocks of up to 6.9 magnitude. 802 people are confirmed dead and over 2 million are believed to have been affected.

50th Certificate for Sydney Robson PPJGW
Worshipful Master of Ionic Lodge No. 6344
The presentation took place at Corbridge Road Masonic Hall on Friday 5th Feb 2010. W Bro. Raymond E. Holliday PJGD of Ionic Lodge presented the Certificate to W Bro. Sydney Robson for his 50 years service to Craft Masonry. W Bro. Brian Sandells PGStB gave a brief history of Sydney’s Masonic career. The Lodge also presented him with a pair of whisky glasses.
Congratulations to Sydney and his wife who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2009.

Head of the Masonic Research Centre visits the Northumbrian Masters Lodge
On Friday 30th October 2009, the Worshipful Master and Brethren of the Northumbrian Masters Lodge were delighted to receive Worshipful Brother Dr Andreas Onnerfors to the Province for the first time.
Dr Onnerfors is a Senior Lecturer in History and the Head of the Centre for Research into Freemasonry at the University of Sheffield. A keen Freemason himself, Andreas is a member of the Svenska Frimurare Orden – the Grand Lodge of Sweden – and has been pleased to visit several Lodges in Provinces up and down the country delivering lectures on the history of English Freemasonry.
